Recording WMA Audio

Recording WMA audio is straightforward with Huelix Audio Recorder. The application supports all codecs and all formats offered by Windows Media 9/9.1.

Windows Media Audio has codecs to suit every recording need. The professional codecs allow encoding at very high sampling rates (up to 96 KHz) and very high quality.

Step 1. From the Settings toolbar menu or Settings main menu, select Audio Formats.

Step 2. Select the radio button WMA Files - Windows Media Audio (9).

Step 3. Navigate to the WMA Settings tab and select appropriate parameters.

Selecting WMA Codec

At this time, Windows Media 9 offers four codecs listed in the Codec drop down list. When you select a codec, a brief description about the codec appears below the lists.

Windows Media Audio 9/9.1 - Use this codec for general purpose audio for most common applications, such as encoding music and other audio files.

Select an appropriate format from the Format drop down list. Higher bit rates offer higher quality, but files are larger.

Windows Media Audio Voice - Use this codec to record voice (speech).  These codecs capture WMA audio in mono and is ideal for recording voice for low bit rate application such as telephone messages and so on. Creates very small files.

Windows Media Audio Professional - These codecs record audio with professional quality. You may want to use this codec with high quality content from LP media, DAT tapes and such.

Select an appropriate CBR or VBR format from the Format list, with correct sample size (16 or 24). Creates large files. Captures audio at sample rates as high as 96 KHz. Note that 5.1 and 7.1 channel formats may not work unless you have appropriate hardware.

Windows Media Audio Lossless - This codec employs a lossless compression scheme. This means that the original audio does not undergo any deterioration during the encoding process. This codec is ideal for situations where you want to archive important audio content and possibly do further conversions and editing with copies. All formats are VBR.

ACELP.NET - This is also a codec used for very low bit rate audio, typically at telephone quality. Use it for situation where file size and bandwidth requirements are stringent, but you can compromise quality.

As you can see, WMA audio capture is fully supported with Huelix Audio Recorder.
