Recording Audio from Speakers (What-You-Hear, recording streaming audio)

You can record whatever you hear through the speakers attached to your audio hardware. This option gives your the ability to record streaming audio, internet radio, copy protected CD audio (for backup purposes), and any other sound originating from your PC.

Step 1. From the Audio Hardware configuration dialog, select Stereo Mix port (see Configuring Audio Hardware for details).

Note: This could be named differently on different audio hardware. Other common names for this port are Sum, Wave Out Mix, What You Hear etc.

Step 2. Play back a music or other audio to test proper recording. Adjust the recording volume (see Configuring Audio Hardware for details) for best results. If the recording volume is too high, sound will be distorted.

Step 3. Close the Audio Hardware dialog, and play the audio that you want to capture.

Choose the output format you want and click Record to start recording.
